Groceries Exempt from State Tax

As of August 29, 2024, Oklahoma eliminated the state sales tax on food and food ingredients, reducing the rate from 4.5% to 0%. However, groceries remain subject to local city and county sales taxes.

What's included: Bottled water, candy, and soft drinks are included in the state tax exemption.

Still taxable: Prepared food, alcoholic beverages, dietary supplements, tobacco, and marijuana products remain fully taxable at state and local rates.
